FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION

NUMBERS — FAITH IN THE WILDERNESS

Name: ________________________________ Date: _______________

Key Verse — Numbers 14:9

“Do not rebel against the LORD, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! They have no protection, but the LORD is with us! Don’t be afraid of them!”

Numbers teaches us that the wilderness can test our __________, but our circumstances do not determine God’s __________.

1. GOD KNOWS HIS PEOPLE

Numbers begins with a __________.

God knew:

  • Their families
  • Their tribes
  • Their responsibilities
  • Their __________
  • Where He was taking them

Remember:

God knows us—not just our Sunday morning version.

He knows what we’re carrying, what we’re worried about, and the questions we haven’t told anybody else.

God knows us completely and still __________ us.

2. GOD HAD A DESTINATION FOR THEM

Israel had been delivered from __________.

But deliverance wasn’t the end of the story.

God was taking them somewhere—the __________ Land.

There was a destination, but there was also a __________ between where they were and where God was taking them.

Important Truth:

A wilderness does not automatically mean you’ve taken a __________ turn.

Sometimes it is simply part of the __________.

3. THE PROMISED LAND IS IN FRONT OF THEM

Moses sent __________ spies into Canaan.

They all saw:

  • The same land
  • The same cities
  • The same __________

But they didn’t interpret what they saw the same way.

Ten spies said:

“We __________ do this.”

Joshua and Caleb said:

“We can, because __________ is with us.”

The difference wasn’t what they saw.

The difference was how they __________ what they saw.

4. FEAR CAN MAKE US FORGET

Israel had already seen God:

  • Deliver them from __________
  • Lead them through the __________ Sea
  • Provide food
  • Reveal His __________

Yet when they saw the giants, they panicked.

Ask yourself:

When a new problem appears, do I remember what God has already __________?

Remember:

The God who was faithful then is still __________ now.

5. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WASN’T THE GIANTS

Numbers 13:33 says:

“We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

Their view of themselves became __________.

Their view of their enemies became __________.

Their view of God disappeared from the __________.

Faith doesn’t pretend the giants aren’t there.

Faith believes that __________ is greater than the giants.

Question:

Where is __________ in the picture?

6. ISRAEL CHOSE FEAR — AND IT COST THEM

Israel refused to enter the __________ Land.

The generation that came out of Egypt would spend __________ years in the wilderness.

Their unbelief affected their __________.

Important Truth:

Grace does not mean our choices don’t have __________.

God is:

  • Merciful
  • Forgiving

Personal Reflection:

Is there something God has asked me to do that __________ is keeping me from doing?

7. EVEN MOSES HAD A MOMENT OF FAILURE

In Numbers 20, God told Moses to __________ to the rock.

Instead, Moses became angry and __________ the rock.

Water came out, but Moses had disobeyed God’s instructions.

Remember:

No matter how long we’ve been Christians, we never graduate from __________.

Faithfulness isn’t just about how we begin the journey; it’s about how we __________ it.

8. GOD CONTINUED TO PROVIDE

Israel wasn’t always faithful.

But God continued to __________.

They needed food → God provided __________.

They needed water → God provided __________.

They needed direction → God provided His __________.

Grace is:

God continuing His work in people who desperately __________ Him.

Failure doesn’t have to be the __________ of our story.

9. THE BRONZE SERPENT

In Numbers 21, the people became impatient and complained against God.

God told Moses to put a bronze __________ on a pole.

Those who looked at it __________.

Jesus connected this story to Himself in __________ 3.

Jesus said that just as Moses lifted up the serpent, the Son of Man would be __________ up.

The Gospel:

The people in Numbers were dying.

God provided a way for them to __________.

Jesus was lifted up on the cross so sinners could look to Him and receive __________.

God provided the answer.

10. NUMBERS POINTS US TO JESUS

It is one great story of God’s __________ work.

From Genesis to Numbers:

Genesis — God __________.

Exodus — God __________.

Leviticus — God is __________ and calls His people to holiness.

Numbers — God’s people struggle to __________ Him as they travel toward the Promised Land.

Ultimately, Numbers points us toward __________.

11. WHAT NUMBERS TEACHES US TODAY

1. Don’t let __________ make your decisions.

Faith doesn’t deny difficulty.

Faith refuses to let difficulty have the final __________.

2. Remember God’s __________.

Don’t forget yesterday’s provision when facing today’s problem.

3. Don’t assume the __________ means God has left.

The wilderness can teach us dependence, prayer and trust.

4. __________ God even when you don’t see the whole plan.

God rarely gives us the entire map.

Usually, He gives us the next __________.

12. WHERE ARE YOU IN THE STORY?

Take a moment to consider:
